…Adopts 3 motions, town union elections, others
Owerri Municipal Legislative Council has passed a motion urging the chairman of the council, Hon Chiediebere Emeribe to take immediate steps to renovate and equip the Waterside Health Clinic along Amaigbo/Oparanozie Street, and rename it Umuonyeche Health Centre.
The leader of Owerri Municipal Legislative Council, Rt Hon Soronnadi Justice hinted that the legislative council has also received a bill for the establishment of a health centre in Azuzi Wardi II in Owerri Municipal.
This is even as Rt Hon Soronnadi further hinted that the Legislative Council passed a vote of confidence on the chairman of Owerri Municipal Council, Hon Chiediebere Emeribe for “excellent and brilliant performance in his first 100 days in office.”
He disclosed that Owerri Municipal Legislative Council also passed another motion urging the urgent need for the conduct of town union elections in the various communities in the Municipal Council.
In a chat with newsmen in his office after sitting on Friday, the leader of Owerri Municipal Legislative Council, Rt Hon Soronnadi reaffirmed the commitment of the 7th Legislative Council to continue to synergise with the executive arm of the Municipal Council, adding that the legislative council adopted all the three motions in order to enhance development at the grassroots.
Soronnadi further said that the Legislative Council was so far delighted in the performance of the executive arm led by the council chairman, Hon Emeribe, the vice chairman and the supervisors.
He hinted that the legislative council has received a bill for a bye-law to establish another health centre in Azuzi Ward II.
According to him, the council chairman, Hon Emeribe has been complementing Governor Hope Uzodinma’s effort by procuring and installing a transformer at Uratta/Tetlow (Darugo Junction), noting that the chairman has already energized a transformer at Christ Church.
The. Owerri Municipal Legislative Council leader said he was upbeat that more people-centred projects would be executed in the Municipal Council.
Meanwhile the motion to rrenovate, equip and rename the Waterside Health Clinic in Azuzi Ward I, was sponsored by Hon Amadi Ejike Emmanuel representing Azuzi Ward I with six co-sponsors.
Hon Christopher Onyenwere sponsored the motion for a vote of confidence on the chairman on his100 days in office, with eight other co-sponsors.
While Hon Osinachi Agbugba sponsored the motion for urgent need to conduct town union elections in Owerri Municipal Council, with five co-sponsors.
